| First be sure you have at least 2GB of RAM. Not Pagefile, not swapfile, not "ram" sectioned on your hard disk from some goofy program. Actual RAM.
* Turn off xfire if you have it running (you can try "disable chat notification first) * Disable any antivirus programs you have running * If AVG, Nod32, Kapersky, or Panda antivirus is installed (or any other free AV) remove it and install any of the brand name AV programs from MSXTracker.com. Those freebies are all coded by monkeys with alzheimers. For testing purposes I use Norton Corporate edition. It's small, easily configured, and does not interfere in any way with Mist. DO NOT USE NORTON 2007 or any home edition! They're quite bloated and will slow down your computer negatively affecting your gameplay. * Try setting the Aimbot to an unused mouse key, i.e Mouse 5. * Disable any unneeded programs (aim, etc). Then go do it again because you probably didn't disable everything. * Remove BF2 and manually delete the program files/eagames folder and the /My Documents/battlefield 2 folder. Reinstall without any expansion packs. * Try using the "Play Now" desktop icon instead of the standard BF2 icon. * Delete the shader cache * Disable any memory management programs and any "speed up your computer" programs. * Disable BF's built in voice communication features * Turn your sound acceleration to "low" * Run a full spyware and antivirus scan on your system using a name brand (not some freebie) virus scanner. * For 2142, try running the program in compatibility mode for Windows 2000. If you don't know how to do this, try http://www.usethesearchbutton.com/compatibility/mode. If you use a DUAL CORE machine you should also look in the help for info specific to DC machines. |
