> 10 Reasons not to upgrade to Windows Vista
Here is the topic you chose to view

  1. Vista should be run on a POWERFUL machine. Minimum 2 GHZ processor and a Direct X 10 compatible graphics card.
  2. Most applications (Itunes for example) won't run on Vista due to incompatibilities with how the new OS handles instructions. Also incompatible: Most DVD burning/ripping apps and Java based applications (Like Etrade)
  3. Vista is EXPENSIVE. If you're not going the cracked route off MSXTracker then you're likely to be out at least 200 bux for the cheapo version. 400 for Ultimate. OUCH!
  4. Game audio support....bye bye! Games like Call of Duty 2 and Max Payne use DS3D to access your audio hardware. Vista says this is a major no-no and disables all output. Creative has a hack for this but it's a beta patch that works in about 74% of installations.
  5. Even some newer hardward doesn't work. USB microphones, gameport joysticks, force feedback attachments, all probably don't work in Vista at the moment. To see if your stuff works check out http://www.tinyurl.como5bq4
  6. Battlefield 2, 2142, and more are incompatible with Vista due to Punkbuster requiring Admin rights.
  7. DRM galore arrives with your Vista installation. Yay? Blu-ray and HD-DVD content will require a fully compliant path, including cabling and MONITOR to view movies. Also, Vista doesn't support Cable Cards.
  8. Drivers for Vista are few and far between. Even Nvidia hasn't got a fully functional driver for it's 8800 cards yet.
  9. User Account Control is a bitch. It's a little window that pops up every time you install something that requires Admin rights - which right now is just about everything. Think Internet explorer sex popups on speed.
  10. Mist doesn't officially support Vista.
